Florine Joyce Williams, 92, of Conway, Arkansas, passed away on January 29th, 2019. Florine was born in Prescott, Arkansas on March 12th, 1926 to parents William and Bertha Brown. She worked for Baptist Hospital as a supervisor for their food service.
Florine was a naturally gifted chef with no formal culinary training. She was the type to cook by taste without measuring and added ingredients by a “pinch and dash”. For birthdays, holidays, or any other special events, she insisted on preparing a home-cooked meal for her family- mostly because there wasn’t a restaurant that could meet Florine’s high culinary standards. On the rare occasions the family went out to eat, Florine was the first to critique the food and mention what ingredients were missing to make it better. Boxed foods were banned from her kitchen and she took pride in churning her own butter and making her own tea. She also loved gardening and going to Church, but most importantly, spending quality time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband: Dennis; one son: Donald Spagner; one daughter: Chita Ann Neilus, and her eight siblings, who are all celebrating her arrival in Heaven.
Those left to cherish Florine’s memory are her two children: Betty (Jeffrey) Forrester and Gary (Karen) Williams; her brother: Herman Brown; 11 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 2nd, 2019 from 6-8 PM at Pinecrest Funeral Home (7401 HWY 5 North, Alexander, AR, 72002). Florine’s funeral will occur the following day, Sunday, February 3rd, 2019, at Pinecrest Funeral Home, at 2 PM. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Pinecrest Memorial Park immediately following the service.
