Duane (Andy) grew up loving sports and cowboys. He went to college at Emporia State until in 1966 he was drafted into the Army. He went through OCS and in 1967 was commissioned as a Lieutenant. In July 1967, he married the love of his life, Janice Elaine Ayers. They enjoyed 53 years together before she was called home.
He spent 35 years with USDA as a meat inspector and food inspector in Colorado and Arkansas as well as doing relief work across the country. He spent 40 years as a deacon in the Baptist church. Upon retirement he enjoyed time with family around the pool, playing cards and spending time with his only grandson, Nick.
Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Mike Moravec; son, Eric Anderson; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Anderson; grandson, Nicholas Anderson; brother, Robert Anderson and his wife Sonya and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elaine and his parents.
The family would like to thank everyone at Gentiva Hospice for their great care and compassion during this time. Special thanks to Shelley, MaryAnn, Skyee, Lauren and Kelly.
Visitation will be at Pinecrest Funeral Home on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Pinecrest Memorial Park on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
