Doris Jean Kerr Farmer

Doris Jean Kerr Farmer, age 86, passed away on October 3, 2023 while in Hospice Home Care, LR. Doris lived independently until nine months ago when complications from a traumatic brain injury required her to move to a long term care facility.

Doris was born in Bald Knob, AR on May 21, 1937, to Evans Adam and Lillian Faye Wilson Kerr, who predeceased her. She grew up in Little Rock in a loving family with two brothers and one sister. Doris attended schools in Little Rock and graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1956.

For most of her life, Doris was a homemaker and a mom.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Vanessa Farmer Henderson (Mark) and her son, Dwayne Farmer (Gina). Grandchildren Jessica Henderson Ogden (Leonard), Matthew Henderson (Ashley), Dylan Farmer (Erin), Kortni Gehlert (Glen) and nine great grandchildren.

Doris was the second born of 4 children. She leaves behind brothers Bill J. Kerr & Glen E. Kerr, sister Karen Kerr Cobb and their spouses. Two nieces, Becky Green & Susan Harbour and one nephew Dr. Albert Kerr & 6 great nieces and nephews and many other loving extended family members. Preceded in death by nephew, Bryan Kerr.

Doris was a good friend to many especially her group of girlfriends in Glee Club in jr. and senior high school (Jean, Molly, Mary & Betty). They remained friends throughout their lives.

Doris had a gift for gab, loved to read & loved to dance. The last six years of her life she lived in Heber Springs where she had a special group of friends who shared her love of dancing.

The family would like to thank her friends in Cottage 5 at Poplar Grove, Hospice Home Care and Pastor Abbey Maynard at PHUMC for their love and care of Doris the last nine months of her life.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, October 10 at 11 a.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park, 7401 Highway 5 N, Alexander, AR 72002. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 201 N. Fourth, Heber Springs, AR 72543, where Doris was a member or to Hospice Home Care, 2200 South Bowman Road, LRA 72211
