Allen Verne Whitwell, 84 of North Little Rock, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. He was born on June 24, 1939 in Little Rock to the late Verne and Beatrice (Prince) Whitwell. He is survived by his dear friends, Harry and Maria Gottsponer, and Aaron and Evelyn Barnes.
Allen proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was extraordinarily talented, and played his “Special Deluxe” trumpet while in high school at North Little Rock, and while attending college at UCA, as well as in the navy. He spent 35 years at Entergy before retiring at 65. He enjoyed eating, football, and watching NASCAR in his spare time. He cared deeply for animals, especially dogs, which he expressed through his long time commitment to the Warrior Canine Connection program.
