Dick was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 15, 1932 to John and Elizabeth Lizette, who both predeceased him. He was the youngest in a family of 5 children.
Dick was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Mary Lizette (nee Benedetto), and is survived by his partner of 27 years, Amalie Tepper. Mary and Amalie were the loves of Dick’s life.
Dick is also survived by his oldest sister, Blanche Ervick, his children, Terri (Mervyn) Van Steinburg (nee Lizette), Derek (Wendy) Lizette, Jon (Kim) Lizette and Mike Abel, his many, many grandchildren,
great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Dick was a working man at heart who loved to talk politics, sing, laugh, watch hockey and drink beer.
In addition to being a lifelong supporter of the New Democratic Party (NDP), he was a strong trade unionist who was so proud to be an activist and member of United Steelworkers of America (USW) Local 1-423 in Kelowna.
Dick enjoyed life! He was such a positive, sincere person right to the end. Whether you knew him for days or years, he made an impact on your life.
Dick loved well and was well loved. He will be sorely missed.
