Patrick John McKenzie was born on December 6, 1931 in Johannesburg, South Africa. He passed away peacefully on October 25, 2023 in Chilliwack, British Columbia. As a young man, Pat raced motorcycles professionally, representing his country of South Africa and then later, when he became a British citizen, raced for Britain. He belonged to many teams but retired from his racing career with the Rayleigh Rockets. Pat travelled extensively as a young man and through his professional career as an instrument technician, and later, as a consulting technician, dealing with instrumentation in both nuclear power stations and pulp mills throughout Canada. Pat lived in Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia, England, South Africa.
Pat's wife, Joan, predeceased him March 9, 2005, and his grandson Robbie on March 23, 2006. He is survived by his children and their families. Don (Katie and Sarah) and daughters Debbie (James, Brittany, Christopher, Jeffrey) and Carolynne (Kylie and Liam). As per his wishes, there will be no funeral, but a private ceremony will be held by his family at a later date.
