Joanne Gulkiewich

Joanne Constance (Bowen) Gulkiewich, passed away after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease, in Cloverdale, BC. She was predeceased by her mother Helen (Franklin) Bowen, father Ervin Robert Bowen, stepmother Effie (Hutton) Bowen, grandmother Ina Bowen. Born in Comox, BC, she graduated from high school in Courtenay. Joanne loved travelling and had lived in Germany, Luxembourg, and New Delhi, India. A former member of the Eastern Star (Ypres Chapter), the RCMP Ladies Auxiliary, she was passionate about raising funds for those in need. Survived by her husband, George Gulkiewich, daughter, Ashleigh Gulkiewich, son-in-law, Ferdie Bancosta and many cousins. A devoted daughter, wife, mother, cousin and friend, she will be missed. Jo’s smile, sense of humour and love of people and their stories will not be forgotten. Her family is thankful for the wonderful team at the Czorny Alzheimer Centre, where she spent her last six years. A celebration of life will be held at the Hazelmere Golf & Tennis Club in Surrey on Sunday, Sept 30, 11:00am -2:00pm.
