James George Abernethy

Born May 13, 1942, in Vancouver, BC, surrounded by his loved ones, Jim Abernethy passed away on August 20, 2024, in Port Moody.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Murray and Josephine Abernethy.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Diane, who made his dreams come true. He leaves behind his cherished children: daughters Joanne (Gerald) in La Quinta, California; Alison in Vancouver; Pamela (Dave) in Sechelt, BC; Katherine(Harley)in Port Moody; and son Christopher(Corrie) in Surrey, BC. He was a proud grandfather to Pagie, Michael, Olivia, Jacob, Quincy, Benjamin, Emma, Nicholas, and Owen, and a great-grandfather to Miller. He is also survived by his brother Bob (Carole) in Crescent Beach, BC, and nephews Greg, Jordie, and Doug.

Jim dedicated much of his career to the retail men’s wear industry, including 25 years with Mr. Big and Tall in Vancouver and Calgary and later with Dunn's Tailors. Known for his unwavering integrity, Jim maintained his high standards throughout his professional life, even during challenging times. He deeply respected and admired his many colleagues, including Maurice, Howard, Pat, Rick, and Vic, and was grateful for their support.
