He will be missed by his children Kristin (Barry), Kevin & Craig, grandson James, granddaughter Rori, sister Kathy and his wife of 52 years Dawn.
David was born to Vera & Pat Young in Winnipeg March 31, 1947. He graduated from Argyle high school in North Vancouver.
The family then moved back to Winnipeg where David met his wife Dawn in 1968 and married in 1970.
They moved to Victoria shortly after being married before moving to the Lower Mainland and building their first house in Surrey.
David worked as a Line cook on the trains, Tow truck driver in the Winnipeg winters, Langara Community College, Douglas College & finally Gretag as a Service Engineer. While working for Gretag for he enjoyed travelling meeting new people and seeing all of Canada and the US.
David hobbies included radios, electronics and cameras.
Through the years, David enjoyed his cars. Cars were his passion. Anything to do with cars from fixing them, going to car shows, to taking pictures of cars at car shows, talking about cars, selling parts, finding parts you name it. Oh, and the car magazines. So many car magazines….as his daughter I can remember when he would return from trips and my present would be a car magazine.
You could always talk about cars from with David from a Pontiac to a Super Bee
From his first car from the dump when he was a teenager, to the Dodge Dart, ’52 Plymouth & “Penny” the Dodge Coronet. These were the babies
David was a member of the Collectible Chrysler Car Club, Cloverdale Cruizers & BC Hot Rod Association. He enjoyed the friends he made and the get togethers at the dinners and car shows.
And while he had multiple health issues over the years, he always had a will to go on and would not surrender. Being stubborn was not a bad thing sometimes.
He will be remembered for being a hard worker, dedicated family man and kind and loyal friend.
