Wanda Sue Phillips

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Sister Wanda Sue Phillips, at age 86 of Knoxville, Tennessee. Sister Phillips passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday December 18th, 2024. Wanda was born to the marriage of Fred and Alta Wheeler on August 26th, 1938.

Sister Phillips was a long-time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints West Ward.

She was preceded in death by Parents Fred & Alta Wheeler; her two sons, Michael Watkins and Rodney Watkins; Sister Sandra Steinman, and Grandson Shaun Watkins.

Left to Cherish her memory and live out her legacy are her six children, Steven Watkins, Joe Watkins, Tonya Berry, Bradley Phillips (Joe), Ronnie Phillips, and Donna Turner (Danny). Her twelve grandchildren, Aondria Armstrong (Michael), Tabitha Barbo (Alex), Pamela Watkins, Teranova Anton (Steve), Krista Kay Watkins, Amber Balboa (Ricky), Kevin Watkins, Byron Turner (Amber), Chase Berry, Lexy Turner (Jamarius), and Brandi Shown. Her four great grandchildren, Brayden Balboa, Brynlee Balboa, Hayden Turner, Lyrica Franklin. Each of whom held a very special place in Wanda’s heart. Wanda leaves behind two sisters, Judy Bertagna (Bob), and Linda Lay. She also leaves behind a host of family and friends she cherished and loved so much.

The Family of Sister Wanda Phillips would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Bishop Todd Gilday, Brother Tom & Debbie Clapp, and the entire ward at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints West Knoxville for the love and care given to our Mom and Mammaw.

The family will receive friends Monday December 23, 2024, from 10:00am to 11:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, West Ward, 400 Kendall Road Knoxville, TN 37919 with service to follow. Bishop Todd Gilday. Sister Phillips will be laid to rest on Monday December 23, 2024, at 1:00pm at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, in the Garden of Gethsemane, 3176 Alcoa Hwy, Alcoa, TN 37701. Flowers to be delivered to 400 Kendal Road Knoxville, TN 37919.
