Ronald ("Ron" or "Ronnie") Glenn Bryan, age 73, of Knoxville, TN, passed away suddenly on February 3, 2023. He was the youngest of 12 children and was preceded in death by his parents James W. and Bertie L.; brother Melvin; and sisters Vera Morgan, Jo Frances, Carolyn Repass, Marjorie ("Bobby") Connor, and Martha Leffew.
He is survived by his wife Margaret; daughter Kellie (Kevin Stoy); son Matthew (Karen); identical twin brother Donald ("Don" or "Donnie," and Nancy); sisters Joyce Lippe, Shirley Harp, Faye Starmer, and Linda Stapleton; grandson Zachary; granddaughter Allison; brother-in-law James Sanders (Sena); nephews Michael, Erick, Joshua, Jacob, and Ian Bryan, and William Sanders; nieces Jennifer Cate and Heather Lovett; 22 more nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Ron graduated from East High School and received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee (Knoxville). He served in the U.S. Army and was a decorated Vietnam War veteran.
After his service in the Army, Ron began his professional career at Levi Strauss and Co. Later, he worked for the U.S. government in information technology for the Department of the Interior. When he retired in 2015, he was a senior information technology specialist for the Office of Surface Mining in Knoxville.
Ron's many interests and passions included golf, music, volunteering for the Boy Scouts of America, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and loved singing in the choirs. He especially loved hiking, camping, and spending time outdoors, and his favorite spot in Great Smoky Mountains National Park was Cades Cove, where he and Margaret were married in 1979.
Ron loved to laugh and will be remembered as a helpful friend, a loving companion, and everyone's "Papa."
The Family will honor Ron with a Memorial Service on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 3176 Airport Highway, Alcoa, TN 37701, in The Good Shepherd Mausoleum Chapel.
