Richard Prosan was born on August 13, 1939 in Beloit, Wisconsin, and passed away on March 12, 2025, at the age of 85. Richard moved to South Florida in the 1940s, where he met and married Linda (Diamond), his beloved wife of over 60 years. Linda sadly passed away in June 2024.
Together, Richard and Linda raised two children. He is survived by Scott, his partner Kenneth Hamel, Todd and his daughter in-law Allison, and was blessed with two grandchildren, Kiley and Kennedy. He was so proud of them and adored them very much and was so happy seeing them every week and to hear about their school, dance teams and cheering.
Richard was a man of many passions and accomplishments. He began his career working alongside his father as the owner and operator of Dade Auto Parts in South Miami. Later, he spent many years with Barnes Corporation before retiring and relocating to Knoxville, Tennessee.
Richard was a lifelong learner and earned a bachelor’s degree in botany from the University of Miami. His love for nature led him to spend countless hours exploring the Everglades on his swamp buggy and enjoying the underwater world through scuba diving, collecting coral and marine life for his aquariums. Richard was an avid woodworker and metal artist making crafts of all sorts for family and friends.
Richard will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His love for adventure, dedication to his family, and quiet wisdom will remain in our hearts.
May he rest in peace.
