Mildred Christine Horton Ward

Ward, Mildred (Horton), age 89 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at Asbury Place Health Care Center, Maryville. Mrs. Ward was born February 22, 1921, in Knoxville, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Y. Ward; parents, John and Nora Horton; and sisters, Louise Watson, Frances Moore, Betty Reed and Mary Beale. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Richard Bradley; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Theresa Ward, Monte and Marilyn Ward, all of Maryville; grandchildren and spouses, Scott and Christi Bradley, Todd and Crystal Ward, Michelle and Doug Swiney, all of Maryville, and Josh Ward of Knoxville; and several great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister-in-law, Madge Ludwig of Milligan, TN.; brothers, Rev. James F. Horton, Alabama, John W. Horton (Nancy), Knoxville; and sister, Ruth Ann Scarbrough, Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ward was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church and The Friendship Sunday School Class in Maryville. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 18, 2011 at Sherwood Chapel & Memorial Gardens, in the Mausoleum Chapel. A graveside service will follow, with Rev. Glenn Grubb officiating. The family would like to sincerely thank Kay Burnett and all those who lovingly cared for our precious mother on 2 South at Asbury Place Health Care Center.
