Michael Davidson Maxwell, also known as "Mike" , "books a million", passed away suddenly on May 8, 2024 in Knoxville, TN. He was 37, born on December 18, 1986 to parents Barbara Stearns Maxwell and B. Davidson Maxwell. He was raised in Knoxville, TN. He attended both Bearden and Knoxville Catholic High School, then went on to attend the University of Tennessee where he studied music. Mike will be remembered as a musician, chef, and cycling enthusiast. He loved riddles, the classics, all string instruments (especially the mandolin and bass) and he loved his bikes. Mike was always quizzing people with random trivia about music, history or science, laughing to himself while waiting for you to answer. He collected pocket watches and kept them ticking on his own. Mike was an avid reader and would tell everyone again and again about the time he met the wife of his favorite author (Cormac McCarthy) on Market Square in downtown Knoxville. If you told Mike you were cooking, he would ask what ingredients you were using then he would passionately tell you which vegetable or seasoning you should be using instead.
Michael cared deeply and loved hard. His personal self written motto was in Latin, "semper est nobis" roughly translating to, "let there always be hope for us". Michael joins his parents in Valhalla. He leaves behind his brother Daniel Maxwell, two dog nieces Charlie Brown and Jasmine, including aunts, uncles and loved ones. He will live forever in our hearts.
