Larry Clifford Vaughn, originally of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who served his country faithfully for over 38 years in the Air National Guard. He rose from the rank of Airman Basic to the distinguished rank of Lieutenant Colonel, which is no small feat. His time in the military forced him to be away from his family for months at a time, but he understood the calling to act as the vanguard of freedom when his nation called. Despite being away during those times, he always ensured he was present and engaged with his wife and kids and laid a strong foundation for his family. Aside from his family, his other great passion was golf. At a young age he aspired to be a professional golfer, but his life took another path. Despite having a full plate with a wife and three kids, he did find time to hit the links and once he introduced his boys to the game, he consistently taught them the finer points and how to lose with grace. He was never one to let his kids win…whether it was golf, scrabble, trivial pursuit, or checkers. Life doesn’t cut us slack and neither did he. Those who knew dad respected him for his work ethic and conviction…he was a man who got the job done right and believed in doing the right thing…even when no one was looking. Rest easy and go hit the course up in heaven for a few rounds with your beautiful bride. Your family will be fine and try to carry on your legacy in a way that will make you proud. You taught them well and they have the watch now. Aim High Airman!
