J D was a member of Six Mile Baptist Church. He retired from the ALCOA Aluminum Company after 33 years of service as a member of the ALCOA 25 year club. J D graduated from Everett High School. He served in the US Air Force after graduation. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Elizabeth (Libby) Mincy and celebrated 64 years of marriage together.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Virginia; sons James Dewayne and Mark Edward Bryant; in-laws, William Kenneth and Geraldine Davidson Mincy; brother-in-law Charles Mincy; sister-in-law Roxie Ann Thomas.
In addition to his wife, J D is survived by his daughter Rhonda Renee Alley, adopted daughter Karen (Marty) Beck; grandchildren Jason Scott Alley, and Misty Nicole Alley; adopted granddaughter Samantha Beck; brothers, Ray (Carolyn) Bryant, and William Ike Bryant; sisters, Francis (Tommy) Blair, Shirley (Tommy) Perkins, Lee Oda Drumm, Ella May Payne, Faye (Gene) Feezel, brother-in-law; William Kenneth Mincy Jr., sisters-in-law; Linda Kay (Ron) Palvi, Donna Sue ( Steve) White, son-in-law John Alley, and many nieces and nephews.

J D's family will receive friends on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Chapel from 1:00pm - 2:00pm with his funeral service immediately following at 2:00pm. Graveside service will follow in the cemetery with Full Military Honors.
