Charles Larry Hammond, 79, of Knoxville, TN passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Charles was of the Baptist faith, and he was strong in his faith throughout his life. In his early years he attended South High School. He loved to fly short distances; while doing this it afforded him to see the country. He worked many jobs throughout his life the longest being at Brakebill Nursing Home for 21 years. One thing that Charles did get to mark off his bucket list was traveling to Graceland, not only did he go there, but he also actually got to see Elvis riding by in his limousine. Charles enjoyed seeing Louise Mandrell in concert in Pigeon Forge, TN, he attended many of her shows. He never wanted to drive a car, but he enjoyed riding his John Deere lawn mower, he also enjoyed walking the Island Home area where he made numerous friends through the years.
Charles was preceded in passing by his parents, Donald and Lois Nance Hammond; canine best friend Pammie.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving sister, Carolyn Kidd, two close friends of fifty years Steve and Phil Vance, and many cousins and close friends.
Family and friends will gather for a graveside service at the Nance Family Cemetery in Blaine, TN, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 3:00pm, with Chaplin Charles Wright to officiate the service. Online condolences and fond memories may be shared with the family at www.sherwoodchapel.com.
