Billie "Amme" Jean Potter

Billie Jean Potter, affectionately known by her family as "Amme", passed away on June 13, 2023, at the age of 73 in Knoxville, TN. She was born on May 10th., 1950 to parents, Billie and George Jeffries. Jean was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, leaving behind cherished memories for all who knew her.

Jean graduated from Fulton High School and began her lifelong career as a hairstylist. Jean loved styling hair and made countless friends along the way. During her 50 year career she spent most of that time working at New Edition Hairstyles and Styles Etc. She enjoyed attending hair shows and educational classes. Always the creative, she also loved craft fairs, jewelry shows, and caring for her house plants, flowers beds, amd gardens. Jean also loved the Lord and was a faithful life long member of City View Baptist Church, where she spent countless hours teaching Sunday School, vacation Bible school, and caring for the babies in the church nursery. Jean will be remembered for her kind and compassionate nature -always helping anyone in need.

Amme Jean was met at the gates of Eternity by her mother, Billie Jeffries; father, George Jeffries Sr.; grandparents; Febry and Ernest Johnston; great nephew Declan Matthias.

Jean leaves behind to mourn her passing and to celebrate a life well lived, her loving and devoted daughter, Chrissy Jean Akin; brother, George (Christy) Jeffries Jr.; sister, Nancy Puckett; grandchildren, Saoirse and Reagan Akin; niece, Brittany Matthias; nephew, Joshy Poo; great nieces and nephews, Dax, Mady, and Archer.

A celebration of life will be held to honor the life and legacy of Jean at Sherwood Chapel & Memorial Gardens, 3176 Airport Highway, Alcoa, TN 37701, in The Good Shepherd Mausoleum Chapel on July 22, 2023 at 2:00pm, at this time family, friends, and loved ones will come together to share memories, tell stories and to show support to one another.
