AJ was born on April 18, 1933, on Pine Mountain in Pigeon Forge. Growing up he enjoyed riding his bicycle, fishing and swimming at the Old Mill in Pigeon Forge. He attended Sevier County High School, where he met his future wife, Penny.
He served in the US Army from 1954-1956, and worked for National Cash Register (NCR) for 35 years. He and Penny joined Broadway Baptist Church in 2001, where he volunteered with a group of men from the church that built entry ramps for disabled and elderly people in need. He loved his family dearly as well as his many friends and was always reaching out to help others.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Fred Myers and Beulah Trentham Myers, the love of his life, Penny Carter Myers, and his loving sister, Sue Scarlett. He is survived by his children: Rhonda Best (Rodney), Renee Franklin (Daniel), and Brent Myers (Christy), his grandchildren: Greg Gideon (Barbara), Jason Reagan (Valerie), Marissa Myers and Andrew Myers, his great-grandchildren: Matthew and Josh Gideon, and his nieces: Jama Lancaster (Mark) and Davana Greenamyer (Brad).
Receiving friends will be held at Broadway Baptist Church, 2329 East Broadway Ave., Maryville, TN 37804, on June 13, 2024, at 5:30 pm, with a life celebration to follow at 7:00 pm. Dr. Tony Collins will officiate.
In lieu of flowers please donate to Ramu Valley Academy (RVA) in Papua New Guinea, where AJ’s granddaughter serves as a missionary. You can send your donation to Broadway Baptist Church and note in memory of AJ Myers for RVA.
