Keith Allan Hines was born on August 26, 1939 to Elmer and June (Keener) Hines in Seven Lakes, Ohio. His family moved to Downey, California when he was fourteen years old. He attended Downey High School and Graduated in 1957. He continued his education at Long Beach City College where he received his Associates of Arts Degree. He went onto California State University, Long Beach and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History with a minor in Chemistry and Physics.
Keith married Louise Jones on July 2, 1965. They made their home in Cerritos, California where they raised their children Mark and Chalene.
He worked in the aerospace industry before he transitioned to the seafood business. Keith owned VWH, Inc. a seafood importer/exporter company for 19 years with offices in Southern California and Seattle, Washington.
The seafood business took him all over the United States and the world. From 1999 to 2006 Keith’s work took him and Louise to many beautiful places to live including, Rancho Viejo, TX; Monterey, San Francisco and Paso Robles, CA. They retired to Rio Rancho, New Mexico in 2006.
Keith continued to work part time after retirement at the Star Center Arena in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
He enjoyed spending time with his horses, dogs and cats. He was an athlete throughout his life playing football and baseball in high school; and tennis, horseback riding, softball and martial arts as an adult. He loved the annual trips he and Louise took in the RV along the Central Coast of California with friends and family.
You could always count on Keith to have a cold beer in the fridge and willing to stand at his work bench and talk about life. He was a good neighbor and excellent craftsman. He did multiple projects for Louise in all their homes from laying all the bricks in the home they raised their children in, to landscaping their home in Rio Rancho.
Keith is survived by his wife Louise of 53 ½ years. His daughter Chalene, son-in-law Rich Giambitti of Lakewood, California; daughter and son-in-law Laurie Hines-Walker and Chris Walker of Anaheim, California; three grandchildren: Bayley Giambitti and Andre Pacheco of Anaheim, California; Paige Hines-Walker of Anaheim, California; Clayton Giambitti of Lakewood, California; Great-granddaughter: Amelia Pacheco; sister Pamela Kellogg (Ralph) of Abiquiu, New Mexico; sister-in-law Marilyn Lower of Oklahoma City; nieces, nephews and friends.
Keith was preceded in death by his son Mark Allan Hines; his parents Elmer and June Hines; his mother-in-law Betty "Memo" Jones; sister-in-law Janice Danielsen; brother-in-law Walt Danielsen; brother-in-law Alan Lower.
Keith passed at home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico on January 26, 2019
