Marty lived his entire life in Albion and graduated from Washington Gardner High School in
1945, with his mother accepting his diploma as Marty enlisted in the Army Air Corps to fight
in the Second World War. Marty served as a radar operator on a B-24 flying several missions in the Asian Pacific Theater for which he received a distinguished flying cross and several campaign medals.
Upon his return from the military he attended Albion College graduating with a BA in Education in 1955 and went on to receive his Masters from Western Michigan University.
He taught in Albion and Parma Western Schools retiring in the 80s to start Albion Realty Co in partnership with his wife Mary. Marty was a carpenter and built several houses, on his own, in Albion.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary of 46 years, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Granddaughters, Sarah Kraft (Scott Petree), Rebecca Kraft and Emily Wickemeyer
Grandson, Michael Martin Wickemeyer
Great Grandsons, Wesley and Cameron Petree
Nephew, George Stone
Marty dedicated his life to his family and his community. He supported many organizations and causes with his generosity. A very hard worker, a loving husband, father, son, uncle and grandfather who will be sorely missed by all.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 20, 2016 at 11:00AM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, MI 49224 with a gathering of friends beginning at 10:00 AM.
