Paul Henry Truax entered into his eternal siesta on August 25, 2021, in his residence of Litchfield, Michigan, at the young-old man age of 57. His last words to his two oldest children were to leave him alone, because anyone that knew him, knew he was a “don’t fuss over me” style of guy, especially if it was to involve a doctor. Paul was born on September 19, 1963, to the late Henry and Mary Ann Truax.
He was a native of Homer, having spent many of his younger years living and attending school there, and participating in the baseball and wrestling team. He had the dubious task being the middle child but proved many times he was overqualified for that role. He led many childhood pranks and tortures against his siblings, making it his favorite goal to cause his sister, Tammie, to cry. Jim and Ralph were his wingmen, until maturing ages and testosterone changed the challenge to deliver ultimate jokes and master burns against one another, preferably against Ralph. There are many Facebook post and family gatherings that prove the constant banter between the two. Paul enjoyed and found comfort living next to his brother Jim, even though he would never truly admit it, because emotions weren’t really his style. His sister, Dotty, had his complete admiration due to her gentleness and quiet nature, a complete opposite of him. His love for his siblings wasn’t vocally spoken often, but his love was deeply felt by his endless jokes and outrageous commentaries.
Paul entered the military at a young age, and it wasn’t long before he was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, where he met a woman, married, and soon produced 4 rugrats of his own. You would have thought that his many activities such as bowling and adult softball leagues would have been enough to occupy his time, but it didn’t stop him from adding the additions to his family. And boy, did he love his kids. He loved them so much that he made even a harder effort to joke, tease, embarrass and torture them. Many times, he would pass gas in public and scream on the top of his lungs that the innocent bystander beside him was the one that did. He liked to change the lyrics to songs and sing on top of his lungs, such as Freeze Farting instead of Free Falling. This doesn’t even touch the surface of the many shenanigans he was able to pull. Even though he was the jokester, he always made the effort to make sure his kids were secure and felt loved. Even though he wasn’t a man of many emotions, he never failed to tell his kids he loved them. Even if he didn’t always see eye to eye, or an argument was had, he always tried to find a way to make things right. He passed on so many traits to them such as hardheaded stubbornness, loudmouth, and big hearts. The only thing that made him happier than his kids were his grandkids. Parker, Carter, and Kadence proved to everyone that he was a big softy. He had a bond with them that was undeniable. They were the true highlight and sunshine of his life.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Ann Truax, sisters, Belinda Truax, and Mary Truax.
He leaves behind his four children with plenty of training and preparation to crack jokes and appreciate the art of banter are Savannah Burridge (Denny) of Homer, Mi, Robert Truax of Homer, MI, Katie Truax of Alexandria, LA, and Rhonda Truax of Anacoco, LA. His grandchildren that he was so proud to have call him Poppy are Parker White-Truax, Carter Schmidt and Kadence Burridge. His siblings that are left with decades of torture and laughs are Ralph Truax, James Truax, Doretta Riddle, Tammie Hayes. He would be ashamed for us not to at least reference the many nieces and nephews he leaves behind with all the repartee he had with them.
Paul was an avid University of Michigan fan and would love nothing more than to have the last laugh and stick it to the nonfans by requesting your presence at his Celebration of Life wearing the colors he proudly wore day in and day out – Blue and Maize Yellow. In the words of Paul, “GO BLUE”!
Paul’s family will celebrate his life on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 5PM at Caring Community Church, 1015 Irwin Ave., Albion, MI.
