Ms. Mary Lou White gained her wings on February 15, 2023, after a short illness. Mary was born October 31, 1946, to Archie Frank Lafayette and Pearlie Mae Smith in Albion Michigan.
Mary worked many years at The Hart Hotel in Battle Creek. Later in life, Mary was a caregiver to many until she retired. Mary had a spirit of giving and helping anyone she came in contact with. Her love for her family, friends, and even strangers was endless. Mary had a passion for music and cooking. She was a faithful and beloved member and Mother of her church, New Life Ministries International.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory; Brothers: David (Gail) Smith, Robert E. Taylor. Sister: Lynda (Jerome) Gardenhire. Goddaughter Amy Wilson. Adopted brothers and sisters: Ervin Williams, Will Williams, Shirley Gibson, Telene Williams, Loretta Spicer, Essie Wallace, Deana Williams, and Joyce Caldwell. Special Aunt: Helen “Von” Tate, Best Friends: Melanie Ridley and Louise “Noon” Smith. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents: Archie Frank Lafayette and Pearlie Mae Smith; Sister, Kathryn (Rena) Daniels and her lifelong partner, Lee Langston.
Mary will be truly missed by many. Her legacy lives on in all of us.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, Michigan 49224, on Saturday, February 25, 2023, with the Family Hour beginning at 11:00 A.M. and Service to follow at 12:00 P.M. She will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Albion, Michigan.
