Martha Matilda Prescott

Martha Matilda Prescott, age 86 of Albion, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 at her home under the loving care of her family and Reverence Home Health & Hospice. Martha was born March 11, 1929 in Albion the daughter of Archibald and Marian (Spencer) Mills. She married Kenneth Prescott on October 2, 1948 and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother, David Mills and 2 great-grandchildren, Zachary and Aliyah Cooley.

Martha was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother who worked 32 years as a hairdresser. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church (over 70 Years) and was involved in countless organizations including the Albion Historical Society. She was affectionately known as the Albion Town Historian. Other organizations that she belonged to were: the Eastern Star, Life member of the Royal Neighbors, the Albion Elks, the DAR, Duck Lake Country Club, Calhoun County Genealogical Society, the Homer VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Albion Community Trillium Hospital Service league.

Martha leaves to cherish her memory, children, Kathryn Nisse of Lansing, Gayle (Tony) Buscaino of Concord, Denise (David) Wixson of Albion; grandchildren: Jennifer, Stephanie, Kevin Ray, Julia, Rhonda, Erin, Terri, Michael David, Amy, Kristy, Michael; 25 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins she adored and 2 special Godchildren.

Martha’s family will celebrate her life on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 1:00 PM at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr., Albion, MI with Reverend Darlene Kuhn officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her late husband in Rice Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 16th from 5-8 PM and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
