Brian was born in Detroit, MI on January 18, 1965. He was the eldest
child of Louis T. and Patricia Patton-Perry.
He came to Battle Creek as a child in 1968, where he attended Battle
Creek Public Schools as well as Howell Military School where he earned
the rank of Sargent.
After graduating from Battle Creek Central High School, he studied
music at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida and Morris
Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia. Brian lived in Atlanta for several
years working for The Marriott Hotels and West Paces Ferry Hospital.
Brian returned to Battle Creek in 1992 to manage Perry Manor, a home
for disabled Veterans. He was devoted to his work with Veterans and
sought to help as many as he could. He often befriended and cared for
homeless Veterans in need.
He was formerly married to Connie Kellepourey . Even though Brian had
no biological children, he was a surrogate father and mentor to many
young people.
In June of 2011 he rededicated his life to Christ and was baptized at
Mount Hope Church in Lansing.
Brian endured juvenile diabetes for better than 36 years and was on
the transplant list at the University of Michigan, when he became
critically ill in September 2011.
Brian was preceded in death by his father Rev. Louis T. Perry, His
maternal and paternal grandparents.
He is survived by his mother Patricia Patton-Perry, Connie Perry,
Trevor Barnes, Peter (Alice) Kellepoury, and Melissa Kellepoury.
Brothers: Brent Perry, Bradley Perry, Taj Franklin, Torrance Scott,
Rodney Bell, Rodney Beckom, Tyrone Brown Jr., Sean Gray and Joe Reed.
Sisters: Tammie McShan, Sandy Portes, Denise Franklin, Brigette Perry
and Coty Robinson. Nephews: Kyle McInnis, Donald Newburn Jr, William
Cornelius, Tashar Cornelius, Dominique Newburn, Ross Perry, Tanner
Perry, Ryan Perry, Louis McShan Jalen Robinson and John Marcellus, Khiree and Khylen Watkins.
Nieces: Armika & China Jolly, Olivia Perry, Heaven Foster, Donielle
Newburn, Jarecea Tate and Johnesha Marcellus. Aunts & Uncles:
MaryAnne Floyd, Barbara Hall and Rev. James (Rev Roxie) Perry, and Bennie Perry as well
as a host of relatives and friends.
Louis will lie in state at Mount Zion A.M.E Church, located at 364 Van
Buren W, Battle Creek MI beginning at 3:00 pm on Friday, March 9,
2012. Family hour will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the church.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Mount Zion A.M.E
Church at 11:00 am with Reverend Micheal Smith officiating.
