Joseph L. McFall, 84, made his transition to heaven on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, surrounded by his family. Joseph was born on April 22, 1938 to the union of James and Delcenia McFall in Cleveland, Arkansas. The youngest of 4 children, Joseph was affectionately known as “Bud” to his friends and family.
Joseph moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan in the 50’s with his parents and attended the Benton Harbor School system. After high school, in 1956, he enlisted in the US Army where he served as a Combat Engineer during a peacetime period in Germany. After returning from overseas, he continued his service for an additional 3 years as a reservist and received an honorable discharge in March 1962. Joseph moved to Albion, Michigan to be close to his sister and other family members. Not long after returning, in 1962, he married the love of his life Ernestine (Stene) Boggan on April 7, 1962. Joseph and Stene raised their son Steven in Albion, Michigan.
Joseph accepted Christ at an early age. He rededicated his life to Christ at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Albion, Michigan. He enjoyed life, loved the Lord and truly enjoyed being around his friends and family! Joseph was a caring person, a stern disciplinarian, and a good role model. He always wanted to show you how to complete a task an easier way. He loved a good game of bid whist, a scrabble king and an avid lottery player. He enjoyed being outside and mowing his lot on Dalrymple St. He loved to take road trips to visit family from the north to the south. He always opened his home to his loved ones. A second dad to all to whom he instilled a legacy of hard work, love and family.
Joseph was employed at Corning Glass Works in Albion, Michigan for 12 years until it closed in 1975. Joseph then worked at Albion Industries for over 20 years until he retired in 2000.
After a courageous battle with a stroke and a recent bout with cancer; he reached out for God’s unfailing hand on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. He made his transition at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home in Jackson, Michigan.
Celebrating the life of Joseph “Bud” McFall and rejoicing that he has found the peace that only God can give him are his son, Steven (Robbin) McFall of Albion, Michigan; brother-n-laws, Daniel (Jackie) Boggan, Jr. of Oakland, CA, Isaiah (Gwen) Bogan of Albion, MI, Willie (Carmen) Bogan of Oakland, CA, Nathaniel (Charmaine) Bogan of Albion, MI, Bennie N. Boggan of Seattle, WA, Douglas (Cyndie) Boggan of Columbus, OH, and Frederick (Cathy) Boggan of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Montez Motley, Devin Berrington, Gabrielle Berrington; great-grandchilden Dallas Berrington, Amayla Berrington, Samaya Motley, Kassius Motley, special nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved very much. Mr. McFall was preceded in death by his parents, wife and siblings, George, Eddie and Molly.
The family would like to express special thanks to the Mission Point Nursing Home and the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home, for their compassionate care during his illness. Special thanks for the many prayers during visits by Pastor Hess, Dr. Hess, Jr., Pastor Lawrence McFall, Pastor Bobby McKenzie and Deacon Nathaniel Bogan.
Thursday, January 5, 2023 a visitation will be held at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion MI 49224 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 P.M. Friday, January 6, 2023, the Family hour will be at 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at Noon at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 1010 Chauncey Street, Albion, MI.49224 with Pastor Bobby McKenzie officiating.
