Gloria Jean Butler of Detroit, Michigan (Formally of Jackson), passed away suddenly on Friday August 11, 2017, at the age of 56. Gloria was born on June 9, 1961, in Jackson, Michigan to the union of the late George and Lougenia Butler. Affectionately called "Glo", by family and friends, she matriculated through the Jackson Public School Systems graduating with the class of 1979, from Jackson High School. After graduating high school, "Glo" studied at the Jackson Community College. She was a very good writer and scored high in mathematics. "Gloria later moved to the State of Texas where she worked and attended classes for an extended period of time at the Odessa Community College. Her work history was exceptional. Gloria was employed with the Michigan Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer for a brief period of time. Gloria would eventually become employed as a Professional Tractor Trailer Driver. During her 31+ years as a semi driver, Gloria organize and open her own trucking business, "Glo's Trucking & Transport" - owner/operator. In her leisure, Gloria had a "Special Love" for her canine companions, "Big-Boy" and "Girlie-Girl", providing them with Top-Class Doggie Care. Gloria was loved by many and will be sorely missed. Left to cherish her loving memories are her three brothers, George Allen (Sharon) Butler of Davenport, Iowa, Oronde (Kimberly) Ca'Zembe "Carl" of Detroit, and Alphonzo (Carolyn) Butler of Jackson; step-sisters Maddie Davis, Albany, GA., Bonnie Wood and Jackie Smith, and step-brother Matthew Smith, all of Jackson: Two aunts, Louise White and Laura New both of Jackson, and one uncle, Calvin (Annie-Doris) Scroggins, nephews Oronde Ca'Zembe II and Alphonzo "AJ" Butler II, and niece Lauren Wheeler-Jackson; special cousin Mary "Tookie" White and life-long friend, Alvin Pratt (deceased), and of host of many cousins and family whom she loved dearly. Also left to cherish her memories and care are her two Canine Children, "Girlie-Girl" and "Big Boy".
Gloria was preceded in death by her father George Butler, Sr (1977), her loving mother Lougenia Scroggins Butler (1996), baby sister Arletta Butler, step-sister Georgetta Walker, nephew Mario Butler (Muschett).
The Funeral Celebration of Gloria's Life will be held on Thursday August 17, 2017 at 12noon, at the Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home, 406 First St., with a Family Visitation beginning at 11AM.
In lieu of flowers, Donations are recommended to the Jackson Cascades Humane Society.
At Gloria's request, there will be no repass after services.
