Friday, February 8, 2013 at his residence in Homer. He was born October 4, 1924 in Wayne
County, Michigan to Leo and Mary Etta (Tucker) Swan, Sr.
George served his country during WWII in the 36th Army Infantry in European Theater, receiving
2 bronze stars, a purple heart and the combat infantryman badge. He was honorably discharged
from the Army in December 1945 and returned home. In 1947 he met the love of his
life Joann Taylor, they married in 1948. He was a journeyman union sheet metal worker
for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Joe Baptist Church since 1969, life member
of the V.F.W. and D.A.V., was also a member of the Moose Lodge #676 and the
American Legion for many years. George and his wife participated on a bowling league
in the Homer Bowling Alley. He was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed camping in
earlier years where he could spend time with his family, which through out his whole
life was his greatest joy.
George is survived by:

Leppek, Georgette (David) Wallac and Lana Swan
Sons- Chuck Swan and George I. & Schara Swan, Jr.

Sisters- Mary (Alden) Tesch, Eleanor “Ellie” Benjamin and Jeanette (Art) Wilkinson
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Juanita Maurer, Clara Mae Eagen and
Evelyn McRae; brothers Charles, John and Leo Jr. Swan.
Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 2:00-5:00 P.M.
at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, Michigan 49224. Funeral
Service will be Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 5:30 P.M. at the funeral home with
Pastor Robert Dexter officiating.
