Gary L. Morgan age 58 passed away July 16, 2015. He was born July 15, 1957 in Albion the son of Junior and Claudette (Loomis) Morgan. His father precedes him in death. Gary served our community his whole life after becoming a Police Officer in 1977 at 19 years of age then a private investigator in 1984. He worked for Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department from 1990 to 2003 with promotion to Sergeant in 1998. During his service with the sheriff’s Department, Gary was disabled after being hit by a car. He joined the Federal Protective Service in 2004. Gary enjoyed golfing and loved Blues music. He was very strong and active in his recent Mormon faith and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Marshall. His passion for over 40 years was martial arts which prompted him to open his own martial arts school, Meiyo Shi Sei Dojo, which he started in 2009. He loved teaching Isshinryu karate and worked hard to sustain the longevity of his school for future generations including his own family.
Gary leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Claudette; children: Shawn (Stacy) Morgan, Stephan Morgan and Nicole Morgan; granddaughters: Madisyn, Emily and MaryAnne and brother, Michael (Bonnie) Morgan, nieces: Courtney Poe and Brittany Windom and several extended family members.
His family will celebrate his life with a Graveside service at Albion Memory Gardens on Monday, August 3, 2015 beginning at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to his family to be used for his school, Meiyo Shi Sei Dojo.
