Dorothy Lee Gamble

Sunday, May 19, 2019 in Marshall, Michigan. Dorothy was born May 10, 1929 in Albion to the late

Thomas and Annie (Fountain) Ridley.

Dorothy attended Albion public schools. She married Homer Ashley to this union three children were

born, Von, Tommie and Donell. She later married Wes Gamble on May 11, 1968.

Dorothy gave her life to the Lord at an early age. She was a dedicated member of Leggett Chapel Church

for over 50 years. Dorothy served on the senior usher board for many years.

She was employed by the Albion Public Schools as a custodian for the High School and Senior High

School, Parker’s Inn and Corning’s Glass.

Dorothy loved to spend time with her family, cooking, hunting, fishing, traveling and was an expert

Disciplinarian. She loved to watch old westers and anything with Steve Harvey in it. Dorothy was a

proud member of International Free and Accepted Modern Masons Inc. and Order of the Eastern Star,

and the N.A.A.C.P.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy children; daughters, Von Tate, Tommie (Michael) Wright; son, Donell Ashley all of Albion, Michigan; fifteen grandchildren; forty great grandchildren; forty-five great great grandchildren; sister, Dixie Lee Earl of Battle Creek; special friends, Hazel Lias, Mamie Twyman and Mida Moon and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wes Gamble; sister, Fannie Harris; brother, William Ridley; one granddaughter; two great grandsons and one great great grandson.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 12:00PM at

Grace Temple Church of God in Christ, 711 Grace Street, Albion,

Michigan 49224 with Family Hour starting at 11:00AM prior to the service with Pastor Donald L. Phillips III officiating.

Interment will follow at Albion Memory Gardens.
