Harold was born on April 24, 1925 to Oria (Combs) and Robert H. Love in Kaw, Oklahoma.
He and Kay Bryan were united in marriage on August 30, 1969 at Pleasant Hill Church in Edwards County.
Harold served his country in the Marine Corps during WWII and later became a State Trooper for the state of Illinois, retiring from that position following many years of service.
He held memberships in various groups, including the Albion First United Methodist Church, the Albion VFW and American Legion, Troopers’ Lodge #41 and was also a 60-year member of the Masons and 22nd Marine Division.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Marcus Jones and one brother, Kenneth Love.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Jones of Albion, his son, Matthew Jones of Springfield, IL, his daughter, Stephanie (David) Harris of Sims, IL, step-mother, Louise Love of Olathe, KS, four sisters: Evelyn Smith of San Antonio, TX, Edith (Ron) Hepner, Eileen (Roger) Cohu, and Kathy (Ken) Hyder, all of Kansas City, KS.
Harold is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Bryan Brown, Nick Elliott, Mike Elliott, BreeAnna McDonald, Kaleb Jones, Lora Lee Jones and nine great-granchildren: Seth, Evan, John, RossAlynne, AdiLynne, Lane, Summer, Sydney and Caysin.
Funeral service for Harold Jones will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Albion, IL. Following the service, family and friends will be dismissed through the front entryway of the church, to the lawn, where full military rites will be conducted. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM at Ingram Funeral Home, Albion on Wednesday, September 21, 2011.
Memorials may be made to the Albion First United Methodist Church.
