Mary was born in 1942 and was the oldest daughter of three girls born to the late Rosie Lee Wells. Mary attended Akron public schools and graduated from East High School. After graduation, she married Walter Ensley and they relocated to New York City and together they had two children.
Mary worked in several secretarial and office positions while living in the New York area.
Later, Mary decided to return to Akron, and she began her career as an engineering clerk at Ohio Edison (currently known as First Energy) where she retired with 20 years of service. After retirement, Mary began working part-time with Passport where she handled scheduling for home healthcare providers to care for the elderly.
Mary loved traveling, shopping, interior decorating, and spending time with her children and family.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Ensley, mother, Rosie Lee Wells, and step-father, Alvin Wells.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories, daughter, Sherry Ensley, son, Andre Ensley, granddaughter, Erica Ensley, sisters, Sylvia (Pastor Michael) Harrison and Crystal Williams all of Akron, Ohio and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial celebration of life will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Rose Hill Funeral Home & Burial Park, 3653 W. Market St, Akron, Ohio 44333 with Pastor Michael H. Harrison, Sr. officiating.
Calling hours will begin at 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park.
