I thought of Laura today and I searched her name. After I left the American legion I of course lost contact. I remember when I started working at the American legion Post 19. Laura was one of the most lively ladies I had ever met. She made a mark on my life with her warm spirit and determined attitude. Although it breaks my heart to learn of her passing I will forever be grateful for the time I had with her as she definitely left her mark. Here's to an amazing woman may she rest in peace.

To Laura's Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren: When your parents and aunt and uncles talk about Laura; please remember that they are talking about someone who was, to coin an old phrase, "the real deal"! She was always forthright in her opinions and advice; a great social worker using very practical skills in approaching clients and their issues and one who kept her bosses on their toes in the interest of quality service to the clients and the community. Her life experiences had been her teacher as college wasn't an option. It was a great joy to work with her and to support her endeavors with our clients at Mobile Meals and the  Veterans programs.

My heart felt prayers and thoughts go out to you, her family.  Laura was a special friend of my mother Martha Jones, and Aunt Jane Turner, and I remember many times of being in their company at the the American Legion Post 19. Words cannot express the sorrow that the American Legion Family is feeling.  Laura was a friend, mentor, and the most hard-working woman I have ever had the honor to meet. We will miss her so much. Ms. Laura was so supportive of my work with women veterans.  She always had a smile on her face and a hug for me everything we saw each each other!  When I take the bar exam in July, I know I will have an angel smiling down and watching over me!
