John D Roberts

John was born on June 13, 1939 in Akron, Ohio to parents John and Mildred Roberts. He graduated from Buchtel H.S. and served briefly in the U.S. Army. John married Joyce Hornbeck in September of 1960. He worked at B.F Goodrich in Akron and lived with his family in the Mogadore area for many years until he was transferred to Greenville, South Carolina, then working for Michelin as an IT Director until his retirement.

Civic engagement was always important to John. He was always involved in his children’s activities, was a member of the Field High School Board of Education and was an early member of the Greenville Woodworkers Guild, where he had many friends. He enjoyed woodworking and spoiling his grandchildren, whom he loved deeply.

John is survived by his two sons, J. Scott (Lisa) Roberts and Kenneth (Leslie) Roberts. He leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Chelsea Roberts, Ashley Roberts, John Roberts, Abigail Roberts, Ashley Ozanich, Bradley Ozanich and Grant Ozanich. He was preceded in death by his wife and best friend Joyce, his brother Tom Roberts, and his parents.

John will be buried privately, and a private memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
