John Errick Goins

John “Big John” Errick Goins was given the ultimate promotion of being called home on June 12, 2023. John or affectionately known as Errick was born on May 12, 1961, to Ellis W. Bell and Gloria J. Goins in Akron, Ohio.

John Grew up in Akron and was educated in the Akron Public School system. John loved sports, often you could hear him watching a game or fussing at a game. He loved all Ohio teams but was an avid Browns fan.

John also loved music, such as The Elements (EWF), The Whispers, James Brown, and Johnny Guitar Watson just to name a few. And although he wasn’t a singer it didn’t deter him at all. As a self-proclaimed “Grill Master” he was usually seen in the kitchen where he truly shined. He could literally make an exceptional meal with no ingredients and minimal effort.

In his pursuit to draw closer to God, at the time of his passing, he had been promoted to House Manager at City Rescue Mission in New Castle, PA. He was also a founding member of his beloved church Elevate Community Outreach Center, also in New Castle, PA under the direction of Pastor James “Manny” Henderson, who had been instrumental in Johns' walk with Christ.

John will be remembered for being a loving father, brother, and friend. His loud voice, infectious laugh, and larger-than-life personality. His helpfulness, dependability, Humor, and having something goofy or stupid to say even if it didn’t make sense. John’s life was a true redemption story and a testament to Christ’s grace, mercy, and love.

John was preceded in death by his mother Gloria J. Goins; Father Ellis W. Bell; Brothers, Darnay Goins, Phillip Goins, Jeffery Bell, and Tracy Bell; and Sister Martha Goins.

Left to cherish his memory are his Children John Goins Jr. and Britt’nie Goins; Life Partner Crystal Roberts; Sister Crystal (Larry) Taylor; Uncle Billy Goins; and a host of Nieces, Cousins, and other Family and Friends.

A visitation for John will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Rose Hill Funeral Home, Akron, Ohio, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
