Jimmie was born on June 3, 1935, to Horace and Florence Keaton-Martin in Grand Bay, Alabama. He attended and graduated from Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic School in Mobile, AL. Jimmie had been a resident of Akron, Ohio for more than 50 years prior to relocating to White Plains, MD. He was a man of many talents being skilled in masonry and carpentry. He was employed by Chrysler Stamping Plant until he retired in 2005. He accepted Christ at an early age while attending Mt Gilead Baptist Church in Grand Bay, AL. He would later become a member of New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Bennie William. He was a member of UAW Local 122, Life Member of the N.A.A.C.P. and the Super Bowl Friends Club. Jimmie had a captivating personality, spreading joy to all those who knew and loved him as he lived Proverbs 18:24 “a man that hath friends must shew himself friendly.”
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; son Carney Keaton; brothers Jerimiah, Frizzell and Frank Keaton; sisters Katie Hall, Mattie Poole, Dora Hardin, son-in-law Anani Gaba and a host of uncles, aunts, other relatives and close friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Glenda Keaton; sons Kenneth (Philicia) Keaton, Carl (Katasha) Humphrey, Daryl (Dr. Panin) Humphrey; daughters Ingram Taylor, Carmen (Azzes) Mitchell-Bey, Angela Gaba, Carmen (Troy) Garcia, Rena (Damon) Butts; Sister Shirley Pritchett; Aunts Cleo Jones and Maetta Butts; Brothers-in-law Tommie, Jenkins, Rashaad (Krishawna) Carlton, Travis (Danielle) Carlton, and DeAngelo Carlton; Sisters-in-law Deborah Jenkins, Dynetta (Charles) Griffith, Melanie (Johnnie)Greene, Teia Carlton, Mattie Carlton, and E’Rickshia Carlton, Gloriasteen (Elliott) McBride, Geneva Carlton, Verdell McCarthy, Marilyn Jenkins, 17 grandchildren , 13 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
