Jan Renee Howard “Janny” passed away peacefully in her home on November 24, 2021, with her loving family by her side after a brief recurrence of breast cancer. Jan was born in Akron, Ohio on September 23, 1965. She started college at The University of Akron, majoring in nursing, and furthered her education at the St. Thomas School of Nursing in Akron. In short order, Jan became Head Nurse of the ICU at St. Thomas Hospital. Later, Jan continued her education and graduated from Malone University with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. At Malone University, Jan was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society and received the outstanding student performance award. Throughout her many years in the healthcare industry, Jan attained the position of Chief Operating Officer for Semper Care Hospital and managed several medical practices where she was known for her competence, professionalism and love for others. Jan had a passion for helping those in need and maintained her certification as a registered nurse until 2021. A beloved Wife, Mother, relative and friend, first and foremost, Jan was a woman of God. Jan’s most treasured relationship was that of Mother to her beautiful son Hudson. A reflection of God’s love for us was never more closely displayed than witnessing Jan’s unconditional love for
Hudson. Jan found joy and fulfillment in retirement by volunteering her time at the Copley Outreach Center.
There, she started the Backpack Food Program that addressed food insecurity in children in the Copley-Fairlawn City Schools. Jan’s passion to help children and share what God did for her and her family was the priority in her life. Jan was preceded in death by her parents Mark Creekmore and Annette Tarter. She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years Heath, their son Hudson, Dad (Jim Tarter), brother Mark (Kay) Creekmore, brothers-in-law Chad Howard and Lane Howard, stepmother Rita Howard, sisters-in-law Ashley Howard, Katherine (Billy) Walters, Emily (Mike) Principato, cousins, Valerie Bowe and Amanda Slyder, who she counted as sisters, and numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends (and not to be forgotten, her precious dogs Sierra, Beckham and Skye). Those who knew Jan were blessed for every minute spent experiencing her unconditional love and grace. An open
house celebration of Jan’s life will be held on Sunday April 10, 2022, at Allerdale Park Lodge, 141 Remsen Rd. Medina Ohio, from 1PM-5PM. In lieu of flowers, please carry-on Jan’s legacy of helping those in need by donating to the Copley Outreach Center (1502 S. Cleveland-Massillon Road, Copley, Ohio 44321) in Jan’s name.
Peace be with you!
