A graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School, Jim was a former National Guard member and retired Akron Police Officer. After retiring from the police department, he eventually opened his own business USA Calibration Services. Furthermore, he pursued his passion for WWII military, focusing on Subchasers, such as his father was on, USS SC 1012!
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Karen Myers, brothers Gordon and Gary Myers, parents Kathrine L. Warner and E. Gordon Myers, and stepfather Paul Warner.
He is survived by his brothers Dr. Ron Myers and Dr. Tom (Gina) Myers, cousin Bob Ballenger, step-sisters Diane, Paula, Ellen and Christine, his children James (“Jimmy”) Myers, Lori (Rick) Pelfrey, Jon (Dawn) Myers, Wayne (Heather) Myers, and Paula (Stuart) Carpenter. Jim was also bonus dad to Sandy (Ron) Smith and Patricia (“Sissy”) Smith. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lillianna, Bradley, Kaitlyn, Jeffrey, Jenson and Kennedy, as well as great-grandchildren Bradley Michael, Lulu, Percy, and Gage. James was known for his generosity and easy manner. He will be missed by all.
Viewing will be on Sunday Oct. 24th 11-2, service at 2pm at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 3653 W. Market St. Akron OH. 44333. interment will be at a later date.
