He was born to Hanson and Edna Sylvia Walters on July 21, 1941 in Star Route, Connellsville PA.
Graduated from Masontown High School in 1959.
Ed joins his parents Hanson and Sylvia, brothers Robert, William, Samuel, son Edward Jr., and wife Marge in heaven. He is survived by daughters Kimberly (Jimmy) and Reneé; grandchildren Edward III (Heather), Raymond, Nichole, Melanie, Robert, and Michael; great-grandchildren Kelsey, Carmen, Carly, Kylee, Carter, Kensley and Kolton; his brothers Ernest, Leonard (Florence), and sister Edna.
Ed's family was the most important thing to him. He enjoyed having all his grandkids over for barbecues and taking them out to dinner. His favorite place to go was Charleston, SC where he'd go every year for a week to celebrate his birthday with his sister.
He had impeccable grammar and wanted to be a radio announcer when he was younger. However after graduation he moved to Orlando Florida and lived with his brother Bill for a couple of years before moving to Cleveland and living with his brother Sam and his wife and their kids. He worked at a convenience store and was doing other side jobs before he got his apprenticeship in the Collinwood shops to become a journeyman machinist. He was a diesel mechanic on the railroad for eight years in Cleveland. In 1965 he bought Jewel Dry Cleaner. His wife worked there full time with their son and he worked there part time after getting off work from the railroad. In 1971 he decided to leave the railroad and become a full-time dry cleaner and had purchased the Harvard Dry Cleaners as well. He later bought Rapid Cleaners. After moving from Newburgh Heights to Brunswick in 1969 he opened his main store in Brunswick where he has been since the mid-70s. And this is where his three kids and most of his grandchildren grew up. His daughter Renee has taken over the business for the last couple years although he has not missed a day of work and has been actively working till May of 2021.
Ed was a man of God and attended church at BRC since August of 2003. He was a man of his word and would always help others in any way he could. He had a contagious smile and anytime you'd ask how he's doing he'd reply "ALWAYS GOOD!"
"Lord, lead me to the ones I need, and to the ones who need me." Which had lead him to be a mentor and be engaged in the rotary club and The Masonic Lodge where he became a Worshipful Master Mason in 1991.
