Douglas B. Limberg passed away on January 10. Doug was born April 29, 1942 in Englewood, NJ. He was preceded in his death by his parents Norman and Dorothy (Robertson) Limberg. He is survived by his brother Donald, son David E. Limberg (Helen), son Dennis B. Limberg (Sherry), daughter Dawn E. D’Anniballe (Joseph), grandchildren Emily Limberg, Andrew Limberg, Matthew (Kristina) Limberg, Allison (Josh) Heckman, Thomas D’Anniballe, Chelsey Limberg and Kris Limberg, and great grandchildren Xander Heckman, Ella Heckman, and Robert Limberg. He was also predeceased by his ex-wife Marie A. Limberg.
Doug graduated from Parma Senior High School and Ohio Wesleyan University where he majored in English and Speech, was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, and played on the baseball team.
During his 40 year professional business career, Doug worked for Firestone, General Tire, BF Goodrich, Roadway Express, and First Energy holding positions in marketing, marketing communication, advertising, and public relations. One of his greatest thrills was attending the very first space shuttle launch in Florida while representing BF Goodrich in a public relations capacity.
Doug loved sports and won several awards and numerous championships in flag football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball and tennis. He managed and played on a Roadway Express softball team that qualified for a national tournament in Indianapolis and finished in the top 50. Doug also participated several times in the senior baseball World Series in Orlando. Doug was a member of the United States Professional Tennis Association and played on several State championship adult tennis teams.
After retiring from his professional business career, Doug became the boys tennis coach at Copley High School for ten years. His teams won 100 matches during his coaching tenure. He also spearheaded the Committee to raise funds to put in five new courts at the high school.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to honor Doug’s life.
