Donald was born April 15, 1922 in Akron, Ohio to the late George L. and Lula (Bliler) Mathias. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. Donald was a 60 year member of the Montrose Zion Methodist Church.
He retired in 1982 from BF Goodrich with 42 years of service.
Besides his parents, He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Edith E. Mathias; son-in-law Steven "Doc" Lakernick.
Donald is survived by his daughters, Carol (Cecil) Elliott and Donna Pfost; his son, Robert (Brenda) Mathias; six grandchildren, Lisa (Rev. Timothy) Felch, Scott (Jill) Elliott, Rebecca (Andy) Malato, Rachael (Michael) Moore, Daniel Pfost, Brian (Kelly) Klinger; sixteen great-grandchildren, Cami, Carter, Abigail, Lucas, Ana, Lydia, Isaac, Zoe, Levi, Micah, Deanna, Henry, Maria, Evalise, Dylan, and Sam; a niece and many nephews; beloved friend to Jocko and Susie Q.
The funeral services will be 1PM Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the Rose Hill Funeral Home and Burial Park; 3653 W. Market St. Akron 44333; friends may call from 11AM until the time of service. Entombment in Rose Hill Burial Park with military honors. The funeral will be live streamed by copy and pasting the link below.
