Lord on Sunday, May 28, 2023. David was born on July 16, 1939, to the late Mathew F. Weninger and
Erma Kraus Weninger. He is a 1957 Cuyahoga Falls High School graduate; an Army Veteran and received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Akron while working at General Tire. He worked as an MIS professional for many years, ultimately retiring from Signet Jewelers.
David is survived by his true love of over 55 years, Lorinda (Neil) Weninger. He was the devoted father
of Jill Goulette (Pierre) of Greenville, South Carolina, Beth Smith (Jondavid) of Medina, Ohio and a loving grandfather to Sarah Goulette (25), Maxim Smith (21), and Ally Smith (18). He also leaves behind an older brother Roger Weninger of Huntington Beach, California and several nieces and nephews.
David had many interests throughout his life including woodworking and traveling, but cars were his true passion. From his first 1957 Corvette to several others throughout the years, David was a long-standing member of the Tire Town Corvette Club. As a race car enthusiast, David and Lori attended many races throughout the years from the Mid-Ohio raceway to national races like the Dayton 500 and the Indy 500.
Calling hours will be held at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 3653 W. Market St, Fairlawn, Ohio on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 1-2 p.m. immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fairlawn Lutheran Church.
