Her lifetime was filled with gentle kindness, friendly laughs, and hospitable grace to all who met her. Carol was born in Burgettstown, PA on April 4, 1942, to parents Stanley and Pauline Yukevich (Kolenc).
The family relocated to Ohio, where she played the clarinet and was an honors student at Cuyahoga Falls High School. After graduation, she enrolled at the St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing and made lifelong friends while becoming an R.N. Her title as a nurse was secondary to her role as a mother. The family fell in love with the sunny beaches of Florida and established a second home in Fort Myers Beach. She enjoyed her calling as a nurse but also tried new interests such as working for a travel agency, visiting places like Australia and Europe.
She was an active, doting grandma, lovingly named, "Vinny." Her grandchildren remember many sleepovers and walks to the park; her presence was always intertwined in their lives. She was a devout Catholic, worshipping at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. She retired from NEO Pulmonary Associates, Dr. Bella Faltay, at age 78, leaving decades of professional and patient relationships.
Carol was an excellent seamstress and loved to knit and crochet; her interests also included long walks and reading. She was devoted to her family. We will forever miss our beautiful Vinny.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Pauline and Stan Yukevich, niece Traci Snead and sister-in-law Nancy Yukevich.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelli Martin, son Ronald Martin (Bridget), grandchildren Lindsay Gryskewich (Kevin), Anderson Martin (Katie), Troy Willse, Christopher Wile, great nieces Kailyn Popovich-Martin, Maia and great grandchild Otto Gryskewich. She is also survived by her siblings Stanley Yukevich, Janis Svigelj (John), Jo Ann Snead (Dale), many nieces, nephews, and friends, and her beloved kitties Lucy and Ethel.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 16 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Cuyahoga Falls, with a funeral mass following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities Diocese of Cleveland.
