Betty was born on March 30, 1926 in Yorkshire, England to Ernest and Mary Wileman. She was employed by Saalfield Publishing Company for 20 years, and retired in 1990. Betty was a fantastic cook and enjoyed knitting. She enjoyed traveling with the Senior Center in Akron with her niece, Judy. She was a devoted and loving grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 70 years, Joseph Smith, son, William Smith, niece, Judy Shiplett, and three sisters.
Betty will be deeply missed by her son, Michael (Susan) Smith, grandchildren, Robert Smith and Taylor (Maggie) Smith, step-great-grandchildren, Camille and Wyatt, and one great-grandchild on the way.
A private family service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
