Wayne, born in Stilesville, New Brunswick, was the beloved husband of Alison Willmott for 26 wonderful years. He was predeceased by his cherished first wife, Marilyn Briggs (née Porter), in 1992. A devoted father, Wayne is lovingly remembered by his children: Donna Briggs (Markus Sperling), Thomas Briggs (Dena Mintz), Timothy Briggs and step-children: Nicola Devries (Cary), and Heather Goodman (Alison). He was affectionately known as “Papa Wayne” to his grandchildren, Jonathan, Jack, Paige, Madeleine, and Olivia. Wayne will also be missed by his sisters Audrey, Jennie, Freda and Sandra.
Wayne spent many happy years as a resident of Mowbray Place, where summer days were filled with tending his vegetable garden and relaxing with a Molson Ex on the back deck. A passionate Blue Jays fan, the sounds of the game often accompanied his time tinkering around the house, playing Euchre at the kitchen table, or working on puzzles. He also enjoyed his winter getaways to Cuba, Florida, and St. Maarten. Known for his mischievous smile and sharp sense of humor, Wayne was always ready to lend a hand to friends in need of something to be fixed or built.
As a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 197 in Acton, Wayne’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
In accordance with Wayne’s wishes, cremation will take place.
