Stanley Saunders

May 3, 1927 – January 25, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stanley on Friday, January 25, 2019, at the age of 91. Loving husband of Barbara for 68 years. Barbara would like to thank all their friends who have been so supportive and helpful during this difficult time.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Ebenezer United Church, 12274 Guelph Line, Campbellville (north of Bookville), from 12-1 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at Ebenezer United Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Ebenezer United Church or The Guelph General Hospital would be appreciated by Barbara.

Biography

Coming from a heritage of professional musicians, Stanley Saunders-conductor, violinist and clarinettist-although born to a musical tradition rooted in Europe, came to musical maturity in North America. A member of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales, he later graduated to perform with the British Broadcasting Corporation Radio and Television Orchestras, the Independent Television Orchestra, Eurovision, as well as other major and European orchestras. Dr. Saunders' conducting and performing career has spanned several continents, and he has appeared at many of the major international festivals. He has made national tours throughout the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Norway, Mexico, the United States, and Canada as well as conducting for some off the world's leading soloists and ensembles.
