It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Michelina Conte (nee Pupo). After a short battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully with family by her side, on April 11th, 2024, at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Michelina was an exceptional mother, wife, and nonna - she will always be remembered for her kindness, compassion, warm smile, generosity, and big heart.
Michelina was born on March 4th, 1959, in Huntsville, Ontario, to her loving parents, Ines and Salvatore Pupo. She was the eldest of two children and cared deeply for her younger brother Joe. Ines and Salvatore relocated to Acton, Ontario in the early 1960s, and this is where Michelina created childhood memories with her loved ones.
In 1978, Michelina met the love of her life, Tony Conte, at Sheridan College. Tony often shares the story of laying eyes on the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen. They were married in 1981 and spent 43 years loving each other. They raised three children – Melissa, Marco, and Matthew – in Brampton, Ontario. Michelina was the world’s best mom and cared deeply for her children. She always made sure they knew how loved and important they were to her, even in their adult years. In 2020, she gained the title of “world’s best nonna” to her granddaughter, Mackenzie. They quickly became best friends and nonna loved every second she got to spend with her. There are no words to properly express how much she will be missed by her family.
Michelina spent most of her life working in the administrative field. She was employed by Baxter, AMJ Campbell, and most recently, Moretti Excavation. She loved her most recent job so much and often joked that she’d never retire.
Michelina’s loving heart and kind soul were unmatched – she welcomed everyone into her life and treated them like family. She was the first person to reach out in any situation and ask how she could help. She was super stylish and known for her incredible fashion sense. She loved to cook and bake. She was famous for the delicious cookies she would make for events. She also cherished time spent with her family/friends and could host a party like no other. Her downtime was often spent watching Hallmark Movies and catching up on the Young and the Restless. She was committed to her faith and grew up attending St. Joseph’s Parish in Acton, Ontario.
Michelina will be deeply missed by all those who had the pleasure to know her and love her. She is predeceased by her dear mother (Ines Pupo). She is survived by her father, Salvatore Pupo, and husband, Tony Conte. She will be forever missed by her brother Joe (Jane), her children Melissa, Marco (Nicole), and Matthew, as well as her nieces and nephews. Michelina will be forever remembered as the world’s best nonna by her sweet grandchild, Mackenzie.
We are all heart-broken by her sudden departure, but find comfort in reflecting on the memories of her life and the lessons she leaves behind. She will always be in our hearts.
The family will receive friends at Mackinnon Family Funeral Home, 55 Mill St. E., Acton on Wednesday, April 17 2024 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Prayers at 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Patron of Canada Parish 64 Church St E., Acton, on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow at Our Lady Immaculate Mausoleum, Guelph.
