It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Julie Skjold-Pettersen (nee Smith); an extraordinary mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and dedicated educator. Julie departed this world on July 25th at the age of 55, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, humour, and compassion. Julie lived with a sparkle in her eye and a zest for life that made every day a little brighter and will be missed greatly by her family and community.
As a devoted wife to Lars, an adoring mother to Jaymi and Madyson, and a cherished grandmother to Ryker, Julie lived her life with an unparalleled commitment to her family. Her presence in their lives was a constant source of strength and joy and she lived with a fierceness that could not be rivaled. She found her greatest joy in the company of her loved ones, and her warmth, laughter, and kindness will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
In her professional life, Julie was a beacon of inspiration. She was more than just an educator – she was a mentor, a cheerleader, and on occasion, a magician who could make a student’s doubts disappear with just a smile and a kind word. As an educator, she went above and beyond to touch the lives of her students, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts and minds. Her legacy of kindness, her dedication to education, and her deep love for her family will be remembered with immense gratitude and affection. Julie leaves behind a world enriched by her contributions and a family forever touched by her boundless love. Julie may have left us, but her laughter and love will continue to echo in our hearts. We’ll miss her dearly, but we find comfort in knowing she will be gone but never forgotten.
A celebration of Julie’s life will be held on Saturday September 14th, 2024 at 13127 Fifth line Nassagaweya from 12-8pm, where friends and family will gather to honor and remember the incredible woman she was. All are welcome! We encourage you to wear pink as it was Julie’s favourite colour or any bright colours to fill her home with joy through colour. Please no black as we want this to be a celebration for the force that was Julie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the form of gift cards for the family to use during this difficult time or to the Credit Valley Hospital Oncology Department, where the doctors and nurses took care of her, and her family diligently and with great kindness and compassion. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
