Dear Ena and Family,

My sincere sympathy at the loss of your Mother.  She was a lady that lived a full and rewarding life.  She instilled many valuable life lessons that were taken to heart by the next generation.

Our condolences to your family, my trip to canada over ten years ago would not have been the same without edith there, neither would have my first trip to the nations capital canberra with edith over 15 years ago,which is where i live today and still have fond memories of that trip, our entire family is filled with sorrow at this tragic news but we all know that edith would have wanted to have a peaceful and quiet a death and for that we are grateful, may we all live a life like edith and make her very proud

Dear Great Grandma,

Recently, I turned 30, and it made me take stock of my life and how I've gotten to where I am today.  It is the spirit of adventure and hard work that you instilled in all of us that has made me persevere and have all the adventures and journeys that I've taken so far.

It is your independent nature that I draw a lot of inspiration from and I can only hope that I live my life with half of the grace, courage and wisdom that you had.  There is now a very special person in my life who truly appreciates this and I only wish you could have met Eric.

Thank you for all the time that you had for me to visit with you when I came home from school or from my new home in Winnipeg.  I remember one day I decided to come and have lunch with you when I was working at Hydro.  I expected soup and sandwiches, and not a full meat, potatoes and veggies meal...that made me feel so special and loved.  

Thank you for teaching me about the wide world beyond through your travels all over and inspiring me to go and see it for myself...although some places you wouldn't want to set foot in yourself.

You were definitely the matriarch of our family, and I only wish you could have met more of my friends so they could experience your warmth and kindness.  Thank you for teaching me about what it is like to embrace everyone in the family for exactly who they were and never judging.

My Dearest Grandma,
You have always been a very important part of my life. I will always remember the special tea that Becky and I had with you when she arrived home from Japan.
I am grateful for the time we spent together in the hospital last Tuesday because little did I know how important it would be at the time.
You always had that special Grandma fragrance about you that I will always carry with me.
There are so many special moments spent with you and many times when your advice carried me through some rough patches in my life. Thank you for that time you had for me.

Gram, I'll always remember you being there with a bowl of sugar for me to dip my rhubarb from your garden in. 

I'll always remember, when I snuggle up to one of the many quilts you made me over the years the love that went into each stitch. 

I'll remember that you were always there for me to tell you of my many adventures and that you were always supportive and made me feel that I was so special. I remember a box of broken oatmeal paddy cake cookies and a jar of home-made raspberry jam, that crossed the miles and the ocean while I was away...they were so delicious and reminded me of the love and support I had at home. 

You taught me to be proud. You taught me that it was okay that I disagreed with someone else's decision and that I could respect both (in your saying that went something like..."that wouldn't be my choice, that's fine for them"). You taught me about my past, and helped me understand my present with your wonderful stories about life. 

Thank you for my wedding memory when you shared your 'secret' to a good marriage (never go to bed angry). 

There are so many other memories that I have and many more I'm sure I will relive over the coming days, weeks and years. Thank you for all of them. 

I hope that I can live my life with half as much grace, dignity and courage as you have, for that would be something. 

I'ts never easy to lose a loved one,our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Memories can be such a comfort and i hope they bring you so much comfort today and always.
