William David “Dub” Wilson, Jr., 75, of Abilene, passed away Monday, August 9, 2010, at a local hospital. A chapel service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 13th, at Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd St. with Pastor Harvey Harwell officiating. Burial will follow at Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories. Visitation will be Thursday, August 12th, until 8 p.m.
Dub was born in Abilene on December 13, 1934, and had lived here most of his life. He attended Wylie High School and then joined the Navy during the Korean War. He loved country music, especially Elvis Presley’s gospel music. Dub was very talented in singing and playing the guitar; he had a great sense of humor and a great love of life and was a Christian and a Baptist. He was a self-employed carpenter as well as a truck driver.
He is survived by a son, Joe Wilson of Abilene; three daughters, Pam Sanders, and husband, Travis of Coleman, Dianne Barilleaux of Las Vegas, NV and Linda Kinsman of Abilene; two brothers, Don Lee Wilson and wife, Edna of Santa Rosa, CA and Donald Ray Wilson and wife, Viola of Abilene; two sisters, Addie Creason and husband, Walt and Mary Cheek and husband, Melvin, all of Abilene; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William D. Wilson, Sr. and Vera Mae (Allen) Wilson; his wife, Wanda Wilson; a son, John David Wilson and a brother, Robert Wilson.
